Orders are being taken for the new Christmas ornament design from 'Iolani Palace, scheduled to arrive in Honolulu late this month.

The design was inspired by the ceiling rosettes in the palace's throne room and is the first in a series of five ceiling rosettes that will debut between this year and 2004.

All ornaments are 22K gold electroplate and will be gift boxed with informational inserts. They are $15 each plus a $3 handling charge for mail orders. Postage of $3.20 for United States mailings only cover up to eight ornaments. Additional postage will be required for shipment outside the U.S.

Ornaments have been introduced annually for 15 years. Each design is unique to a particular room in the palace. In addition to the 2000 ornament, the palace will be bringing back by popular demand a limited quantity of past designs: 1987 "Lady," 1988 "Lamp Post," 1989 "Bird," 1994 "Vase of Ferns," 1996 "Star," 1997 "Iolani Palace," 1998 "Pavilion" and 1999 "Garland."

All orders will be processed on a date-order-received basis. Order forms can be picked up at The Palace Shop, open 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays.

For more information, call the shop at 532-1050.
