The gift is part of an American Heart Association of Hawaii campaign that began with a celebration of 50 years of service to Hawaii communities in 1998.
Cardiologist William Dang, AHA of Hawaii immediate past president, and Reid Morrison, executive director, presented the two Survivalink defibrillators to Aloha Stadium Manager Eddie Hayashi.
"The intent of these gifts is to put these life-saving devices in the hands of security guards or specially trained employees working in buildings where large numbers of people gather or work," Dang said.
Emergency workers can be delayed by traffic or other obstacles in trying to reach a cardiac victim. Defibrillators in the hands of trained people can help save the person's life, he said.
The AHA is seeking donations to purchase the devices for public areas. Manufacturer Survivalink offered 16 free defibrillators to kick off the association's efforts, including the two going to Aloha Stadium.
