The Lady Sea Warriors of Hawaii Pacific University claimed the top spot in the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 women's volleyball poll for the fourth consecutive week yesterday.

HPU (9-0 overall, 2-0 PacWest Conference) is the unanimous No. 1 team for the third week in a row.

The Lady Sea Warriors face a severe road test Friday when they visit No, 9 Brigham Young-Hawaii (5-3, 1-0 PacWest). They have not won in their last 15 matches at Laie.

Kim-Lee paces Sr. women

Mona Kim-Lee took overall honors in the HSWGA Senior Women's Golf Championship yesterday with a low-gross 73 at the Hickam course.

The Super Flight low-gross medalist was Rosell Armitage with a 93 and the low-net winner was Elaine Lee with a 74.

Golf title to Sasada

Brian Sasada won his second major title of the season Monday, defeating Beau Yokomoto for the Aloha Section PGA Match Play Championship.

Sasada of Makena Golf Club beat Pearl Country Club's Yokomoto, 3 and 2, at the Links at Kuilima. Sasada rallied from 2-down after the morning round but won the first three holes of the second round to go 1-up.

Sasada, who won the Aloha Section PGA stroke play championship last month, earned $2,400. Yokomoto won $1,600.

Kantor with BVA

Former University of Hawaii men's volleyball player Mike Kantor has been hired by Beach Volleyball America (BVA) as its Marketing Services Director.

BVA is the top professional beach volleyball organization in the United States.

Kantor, formerly with the Amateur Athletic Foundation in Los Angeles, will be primarily responsible for the fulfillment of BVA sponsorship programs, in addition to assisting with the sales and marketing of the BVA Tour.

Nakama new director

Ken Nakama has been appointed the new Tennis Director at the Ihilani Resort and Spa.

He replaces Wayne Barnes, who has moved to open the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, Calif. Nakama had been working with Barnes at Ihilani since 1995.
