Denver Broncos kicker Jason Elam remained hospitalized today after injuring his lower back while trying to make a tackle against the Atlanta Falcons yesterday. Elam remains
hospitalizedElam, who was in serious but stable condition, has consulted with a neurosurgeon and underwent an MRI yesterday.
Elam, who shares the NFL record with a 63-yard field goal, had to be helped from the field after receiving a hard block from safety Johndale Carty along the sideline late in the second quarter.
The hit occurred as Elam was chasing Darrick Vaughn during Vaughn's 100-yard kickoff return.
Elam had field goals of 29 and 51 yards and four extra points in Denver's 42-14 rout of the Falcons.
Former Mililani and UH defensive tackle Ma'a Tanuvasa had two tackles, including a sack, for Denver.
Former Kahuku and Brigham Young tight end Itula Mili had three receptions for 52 yards for Seattle in a 37-34 loss to St. Louis. Mili's longest reception was 23 yards.
Former Leilehua and University of West Virginia running back Adrian Murrell had one yard rushing and four receptions for 26 yards for the Washington Redskins in their 15-10 loss to Detroit.
It was a bad day for the Chicago offensive line centered by former St. Louis School and University of Washington star Olin Kreutz. Quarterback Cade McNown was sacked three times and the Bears gained only 165 yards in total offense.
