HPU triumphs in OT

Amanda Rodrigues scored from 12-feet out in the 95th minute to lift Hawaii Pacific to a 1-0 overtime home-opening win against Pacific Lutheran yesterday in women's soccer.

The Lady Sea Warriors (2-4) outshot the Lutes (0-1), 19-4. HPU goalie Yonie Espiritu registered three saves.

BYUH men clip Lutes

Beau Keenan drilled a penalty kick in the 95th minute and the BYU-Hawaii men's soccer squad rallied to beat Pacific Lutheran, 2-1.

The Lutes scored two minutes into the game, but Glyn Drewery tallied the equalizer in the 86th minute.

Garcia ousted in surf

Hawaii's Sunny Garcia, ranked No. 1 in the world ratings, was eliminated after round four of the Billabong Pro meet in Anglet, France.

Garcia defeated Hawaii's Andy Irons in their third-round match earlier yesterday, but fell to Luke Hitchings of Australia in the afternoon.

Also eliminated yesterday was Hawaii's Kalani Robb. Hawaii's Shane Dorian won his heat to advance to today's competition.

Senior Olympics to open

The third annual Hawaii Senior Olympics will open Nov. 10 with a track and field competition at the Kaiser High School track.

The Senior Olympics will continue through Nov. 26 with cycling time trials at Keehi Lagoon.

Other sports are badminton, table tennis, racewalk, ocean swim, tennis singles and doubles, archery, bowling, horseshoes, softball, volleyball, racquetball, 10K run, swimming, golf, basketball, soccer and triathlon.
