Three special-effects crew members were injured this morning near the set of John Woo's movie "Windtalkers," filming on the Windward Coast.

The men were in a pickup truck driving to work at about 6 a.m. when they hit a large "pothole" in the dirt road near the movie's base camp at Kualoa Ranch while letting another vehicle pass, a "Windtalkers" spokeswoman said.

"The jolt shook them up but they're fine," she added.

However, one man, 18, was reported in guarded condition at Queen's Medical Center this morning.

The three men were airlifted out of Kaaawa Valley and taken to Queen's.

A 31-year-old man, reported in good condition, was expected to be released today. A 34-year-old man was in fair condition and not admitted, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Two fire engines responded, but the men were aided by emergency medical technicians on the movie set and four Honolulu firefighters hired to stand by because of the extensive use of pyrotechnics, said Honolulu fire Capt. Richard Soo.

"Windtalkers" stars Nicolas Cage and Christian Slater as two World War II soldiers guarding Navajo Indians, who spoke a language used as code by the U.S. military.

"Windtalkers" officials said the "minor" accident will not delay filming.
