The American Heart Association and American Diabetes Association are presenting the "Caring for Hawaii's Women" workshop. Emme Tomimbang will be the emcee.
Speakers will include:
Jane Nakatani, heart attack survivor, "Taking Care of Yourself."
Dr. Fred Pashkow, director of The Queen's Heart Institute and author of "The Woman's Heart Book," approaches to reduce women's risks for heart disease and stroke.
Dr. Cherylee Chang, neurologist and director of The Queen's Neuroscience Institute, recognizing women's risk of stroke.
Dr. Marjorie Mau, endocrinologist and University of Hawaii associate professor of medicine, diabetes as a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Lorraine Sonoda-Fogel, questions women should be asking primary care physicians.
Dr. Steven Bradley, Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center associate medical director and chairman, Coalition for Prevention and Treatment of Obesity in Hawaii, why women overeat and how to eat for a healthier heart.
Rachel Graybill, marathoner and YWCA of Oahu health and fitness manager, promoting the AHA's Choose to Move program and its tips on developing an exercise plan for life.
Graham Taylor, clinical psychologist, the psychological aspects of living with a chronic disease.
Dr. Joana Magno, cardiologist and AHA of Hawaii president, sharing a tribute to women patients who have survived cardiovascular diseases.
Comedian Bo Irvine, offering views on the lighter side of living with cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Registration and a light lunch will begin at noon, followed by the workshop.
Door prizes and free health screenings will be offered.
