Anyone may enter any number of lei. There will be two categories. The first will comprise haku or wili-style lei, any lei bound or braided together. The second "open" category encompasses other styles.
Oahu entries will be accepted between 5:30 and 7:30 a.m. Sept. 14 at the Ka Lei O Aloha desk at Aloha's main check-in area on the second floor of the Honolulu Inter-Island Terminal.
Neighbor Island entries will be accepted at Aloha's Cargo Office no later than 5 p.m. Sept. 13 for shipment to Oahu for judging.
Judges will be Marie MacDonald and Irmalee Pomeroy, experts in the art of the lei.
In addition to getting to see their lei larger than life, the grand prize winner will receive a round-trip coach-class flight for four on Aloha, plus two nights for four at the Hilton Waikoloa, and a rental car for two days. There will be first, second and third prizes in the two categories as well. The lei will be exhibited 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 between Aloha Airlines Gate 54 and the Makai Pier.
