The state is asking a state judge to revoke bail for an Ewa man awaiting trial for murder and have him held without bail because he is dangerous. State wants bail

Ewa shooting deathStar-Bulletin staff
Judge Michael Town was to resume a bail hearing today for Joel Keoni Brunson, then 17 when he allegedly shot Robert Rodemio to death at a birthday party in Ewa on May 20.
Town last week reduced Brunson's bail from $125,000 to $20,000 at the defense's request, based on school records that indicated he had made straight As during his first quarter of the 1999-2000 school year at Campbell High School.
The state had opposed the reduction of bail because it would allow Brunson to return to Ewa, where many of the witnesses to the shooting reside.
A father of one of the witnesses testified yesterday that his son told him just last week that "someone (is) looking for him."
A registrar at Campbell High yesterday said although Brunson turned 18 on Aug. 12, he is a certified special-education student and can enroll in school until age 20.
Because he is awaiting trial, school officials will not allow him on campus and have recommended that he receive home tutoring so he can still earn credits he needs to graduate.
Brunson's attorney, Myles Breiner, noted that his client's straight-A grades during his first quarter last year indicate he is capable of doing well in school.
