Watching the waves

Waterfront Park on Wednesday, as other beachgoers
watch from shore. Oahu's waves are expected to
remain at 1-3 feet through the weekend.
He can see clearly
now; the fear is gone

A Diver is Born? Mason Yoshida, 4, went underwater for
the first time with dad Mark Yoshida at a pool in Kailua.
Just minutes earlier, Mason was reluctant to even get his
face wet. But a pair of swim goggles and the lure of being
able to see underwater overpowered whatever fears he
had. Now, he is totally stoked and can't wait to get
back in the water.

Beating the school jam

To demonstrate ways of beating commuter gridlock, celebrity
volunteers rode buses and bikes, carpooled and drove to Aloha
Tower from Hawaii Kai, Mililani and Waipahu this morning
in the state Department of Transportation's Commuter
Challenge. TV personality Tiny Tadani beat the
competition by starting 15 minutes early. Here,
