Manufacturing problems have occurred, reducing the supply of vaccine, the Health Department said.
A variety of health agencies and vaccine manufacturers are cooperating to facilitate availability of the vaccine.
People at highest risk for complications from influenza should schedule a flu shot with their doctors when vaccine is available, the Health Department advised.
This is especially important for young children at high risk who are receiving an influenza vaccination for the first time.
Others at high risk are:
