Melvin Ah Nen "Sonny" Akiona, 86, of Waimanalo, co-founder/owner of Mel's Market in Waimanalo, died Aug. 15 in Castle Medical Center. He is survived by daughter Sharon Akiona Bolmeier; sons Bryan "Mugs" and Curtis K.; sisters Helen Nakanelua, Eunice Pea and Rachel Wong; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Vicente M. Calilan, 90, of Hana, Maui, a retired laborer at Hana Plantation, died Saturday at home. He was born in the Philippines.
