Estrada, traveling with his economic adviser and trade officials, also plans to meet with business leaders here to try to encourage investments in the Philippines. He also is expected to meet with the Filipino community.
Aside from a news release about the dinner, the Philippine Consulate General here provided no information about his trip.
Estrada reportedly is visiting here at Gov. Ben Cayetano's invitation.
Estrada will make a nine-day trip to the United States, starting Sept. 6, according to The Star, a newspaper in the Philippines.
The president's press secretary, Ricardo Puno Jr., told The Star that Estrada will hold official meetings in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Honolulu before returning to Manila Sept. 14.
"He will have an opportunity to meet with other leaders and heads of state, including President Clinton himself," Puno said.
Estrada will join 135 other heads of state in talks before a Millennium Summit hosted by the United Nations in New York.
He will meet with American business groups before his U.N. appearance and fly to Chicago from New York to meet with the Filipino community and local chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce.
Puno said Estrada's schedule may change and more official activities may be included in his U.S. visit.
