Michael Piranha entertains tomorrow.

Movie night in Nuuanu

Star in your own Mini Monster Movie at the next Nuuanu Nights outdoor street festival, taking place 6 to 11 p.m. tomorrow on Nuuanu Avenue, between Chaplain Lane and King Street.

The movies are the brainchild of the artists collective Special Prescription, who will help festival goers star in their own short films on the spot. The group will provide scripts, props and a camera to complete the videos.

Special Prescription also will offer performances ranging from an "Art Ring," in which heavyweight artists will square off, to an Art Hunt, in which one lucky individual who discovers a hidden work will get to take home the original piece.

As always, there will be music, this time provided by the Piranha Brothers, and there will be a demonstration of Brazilian dance and martial arts by Capoiera Hawaii.

Also returning will be last party's hit, the glow-in-the-dark bubble room, and food will be available for purchase from Indigo, Havana Cabana, Garden of Saigon and Tea at 1024. Call 732-9575.

Martin Pahinui will be among the performers at the
free Ki Ho'alu Slack-Key Guitar Festival Sunday
at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.

Heftel, Moffatt honored

Television and radio owner Cecil Heftel and entertainment promoter Tom Moffatt will be presented with the Iolani Lifetime Achievement in Broadcasting Award Aug. 25 at a March of Dimes benefit gala.

The event will take place at at 5:30 p.m. in the Royal Hawaiian's Monarch Room.

Former Miss Universe Brook Lee and comedian Rodney Villanueva will co-host the black tie event. Tickets are $25 per person for two glasses of wine, or $75 for dinner.

Presenters include Jimmy Borges, Don Ho, Karen Keawehawaii, Matthew Pedersen, Janel Parrish and John Rampage. Vaihi, Kanilau and Hula Joe will entertain.
