The Queen's Medical Center and the Teamsters Union have reached a tentative agreement on a contract covering about 570 hospital employees.

The contract expired June 30 and was extended twice until a 12:01 a.m. deadline yesterday.

Queen's announced the agreement, saying both parties were pleased. The Teamsters negotiating team unanimously endorsed it for ratification. A vote will be taken in the next two weeks.

The contract covers Queen's employees in food services, housekeeping, telecommunications, maintenance, central processing and distribution departments.

Clinical positions such as nursing assistants, psychiatric assistants, cardiac monitor observers and licensed practical nurses also are covered.
