Haseko Homes Inc. is planning to build 667 homes on 84 acres off Fort Weaver Road in Ewa Beach, the second phase of the company's 1,100-acre, 20-year Ocean Pointe master plan.

Haseko "I think it's a good sign that we have . . . enough confidence to begin processing our next neighborhood," said Vicki Gaynor, assistant vice president for Haseko.

Price and size details for the development are not available yet, Gaynor said.

The second phase would most likely resemble the 90-acre first phase of Ocean Pointe, which broke ground for 650 town houses and single-family homes three years ago.

Art Town houses in the first phase range from 920-to-1,156 square feet, and sell around $170,000, Gaynor said, while single-family homes go from 1,260-to-1,810 square feet, and range $250,000 to $300,000. The land under both phases is fee simple.

Plans for Ocean Pointe also include a 1,400-slip marina, and a 20-acre district park.

Haseko's permit application with the city will open for a public hearing at 1:30 p.m., Sept. 20 in the Human Resources Conference Room in the City Hall Annex at 550 S. King St.

Gaynor expects plenty of interest because the idea for a major development in the area has been kicked around for a long time, she said.

Haseko bought the former sugar land out of bankruptcy in 1989. It took until 1997, however, for Haseko to change the zoning to residential. "It took us all that long to do the land-use changes," Gaynor said. Haseko expects to get city approvals by November and said construction could begin sometime next year.
