Former Aston exec
joins online firm

JW Ellsworth, a former executive of Aston Hotels & Resorts, has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Viata Online Inc., a Honolulu-based Internet vacation reservations business.

Ellsworth joined Aston in 1979 and was president and chief operating officer when he left in 1993. He is also the founder and president of the Learning Education Technology Co., a nonprofit Hawaii corporation supporting the integration of technology in island schools, and he owns a hotel, the Ramada Inn Union Square in San Francisco.

Founded in 1998, Viata Online offers holiday activities and some 300 vacation units through its Web site www.vacationhosts.com. Viata is headed by Karl Chang, chairman and CEO, who was one of the founders of VeriFone Inc.
