Andy Irons of Kauai was the only lower-seeded surfer to overcome the draw in round two of the Billabong MSF Pro at Jeffrey's Bay, South Africa, yesterday.

Scoring a narrow 20.75 to 20.15 victory over Australian Luke Hitchings, Irons advanced to today's third round where he will clash with reigning world champion Mark Occhilupo of Australia.

Hawaii's Sunny Garcia, who moved to the third round after a round one win on Sunday, will meet South African wildcard Sean Holmes today.

In another third round heat, two Hawaii surfers --Shane Dorian and Kalani Robb --will go head-to-head.

Hawaii's Ross Williams will go up against Brazil's Flavio Padaratz.

The Big Island's Conan Hayes lost in the second round to Victor Ribas of Brazil, but found consolation in the fact that he has been officially reinstated into the coveted Top 44 World Championship Tour after the retirement of Australian Matt Hoy.
