in third hotline caseA Waikiki man faces trial in Circuit Court on first-degree theft and conspiracy charges for receiving welfare benefits while receiving Social Security benefits.
Carroll G. White, 54, also known as Earnest L. White, is the third welfare fraud case in recent years to be uncovered based on tips from the public to the Welfare Fraud Hotline.
Two others were convicted in 1998 for fraudulently obtaining welfare benefits. They received prison terms.
White is also accused of hiding that his wife was living with him and that she was receiving welfare benefits under two different names.
He is also charged with concealing that he was receiving worker's compensation benefits and personal-injury settlement funds.
