Dan Nishimoto, a golf professional from Kauai, shot a 2-under-par 70 and will represent Hawaii in the U.S. Senior Open Championship June 29 to July 2 at the Saucon Valley C.C. in Bethlehem, Pa. Nishimoto qualifies
for Senior OpenNishimoto topped a field of 22 golfers in the local sectional qualifying yesterday at the Mid-Pacific Country Club.
Tommy Ukauka, who posted a par 72, is the first alternate.
Finishing in a tie for third yesterday at 75 were Ron Kiaaina and Larry Stubblefield.
NSA clinics, tryouts
The National Soccer Academy, a Hawaii non-profit organization, is conducting clinics and team tryouts July 7-11 from 10 a.m. to noon at Kapiolani Park Field 4.All boys and girls ages 8-13 can attend. Serious players may be asked to join NSA.
Fred Hsu, the director of NSA, will conduct the clinic.
Since 1992, Hsu has assembled youth soccer teams from California and Hawaii to participate in several European tournaments. He has guided eight teams to championships in Sweden, Denmark and Finland.
Michele Nagamine, Kamehameha Schools girls' varsity soccer coach, will be assisting.
A registration fee of $65 covers all sessions, and includes an NSA T-shirt. Space is limited.

Fund-raiser for football
The second annual National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame-Hawaii Chapter Golf Tournament will be held July 12 at noon at the Ala Wai Golf Course.Funds raised will be used to honor Hawaii's high school football players .
The entry fee is $60 per person or $180 per three-person team.
