Conference admission had been set at $35.
From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow, there will be a series of workshops and activities for adults and teens at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Campus Center. Children's activities will run from 1 to 5 p.m. tomorrow.
There will still be a $20 admission charge for special professional sessions with guests Patricia McLaughlin, author of the Newbery Award-winning "Sarah, Plain and Tall"; Ed Young, illustrator and author of children's books and magazines, including the Caldecott Medal-winning "Lon Po Po: A Red Riding Hood Story from China"; and Marianne Carus, editor-in-chief of a series of children's books and publications, including "Cricket" magazine.
There will be vendors offering books and other merchandise throughout the conference. Authors will be available for autographs, up to two per person.

Lum will prepare Ahi Tartare with Wasabi Tobiko and Charred Barbary Duck with Papaya-Apple Chutney.
