Two local companies team up on Web site
Internet Concept Solutions, which launched the www.JobsHawaii.com Web site in early 1999, has acquired a minority interest in a Hawaii shopping Web site developed by public relations and marketing firm Communications-Pacific Inc.ICS is taking over the running of what was www.Pacific-Trader.com and is now called www.ePacificTrader.com. Communications Pacific founded the shopping site a little over six months ago and said it has more than 700 Hawaii products listed for sale. Communications-Pacific, which still has the majority ownership of ePacificTrader.com, said it will launch a campaign to promote the Web site.
ICS also runs a local news Web site, www.eNewsHawaii.com.
Nominees sought for exporter awards
The state is accepting nominations for the Governor's Exporter of the Year and seven other related awards."The Governor's Exporter of the Year awards bring much-deserved attention to companies exhibiting excellence in making Hawaii an active player in the global marketplace," said Seiji Naya, director of the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism, which runs the program.
All nominees must be registered to do business in Hawaii and be sponsored by a financial institution or an industry association. Nomination forms must be received by DBEDT no later than 4:30 p.m. on July 21. NEW YORK -- Shares of Linux operating system and software distributor Red Hat Inc. jumped today after the company said it beat first-quarter forecasts and was on track toward profitability next year. Shares of Red Hat reached $25.62, before closing at $25, up $1.62 from yesterday's close. Its shares are down 76.3 percent this year.
