Shane Komine

All-America selectionShane Komine has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-America first team, it was announced yesterday.
Komine, a right-handed pitcher from Kalani High School, helped Nebraska reach the Super Regional at Stanford, Calif.
He lost the second game in a matchup with Punahou's Justin Wayne, the No. 2 starter in the Cardinal rotation.
Wayne, a junior right-hander, was named to the second team. He has a 14-3 record and is in Omaha, Neb., for the College World Series.
Komine finished the season with an 11-4 record and struck out 159 in 124 innings. He was second in the nation in strikeouts to Cal State Fullerton's Adam Johnson who had 166.
Komine's 2.24 earned run average is the 13th best in NCAA Division I.
The NCBWA named Komine and Wayne the District VII and IX players of the year, respectively.
Komine was one of two sophomores earning that distinction.
