Monica Welde, holding 21-month-old Anjelica Welde, asks for a
kiss from Fred, a six-year-old brown bear. Nine brown bears will
perform at the 50th State Fair, which opens today at 6 p.m. The
fair will be open Thursdays through Sundays until
June 18 at Aloha Stadium.
