Star-BulletinA Mililani woman accused of stabbing her husband to death allegedly because of his extramarital affair is allowed to return to her home to await her murder trial.
Despite a report recommending against release, Judge Michael Town yesterday granted supervised release for Cheryl Mosier, 45, who is accused of fatally stabbing her husband, Harbin Richard Mosier Jr., 44, in the neck April 4. Town also ordered Mosier not to discuss the murder case with family members who will be living with her in her Mililani home.
More than a dozen family members showed up for yesterday's hearing yesterday to offer support.
"She has unanimous support ... and strong community ties," which worked in her favor, said her attorney, Howard Luke.
Her supporters included the brother of her husband, her two teen-age sons, and her father and stepmother, who have moved from the mainland to Hawaii to be with her. A representative from her employer, Wahiawa General Hospital, also attended the hearing, ready to speak in favor of her returning to work, Luke said.
Court documents say Mosier killed her husband after learning he had been having an affair with a California woman for 3 years and was planning to leave her once their youngest child reached 18.
Mosier also stabbed herself four times in the neck in an apparent suicide attempt, police said. Mosier told police she and her husband made a suicide pact.
