Molokai High baseball coach Ken Nakayama, 58, says you're never too old for self-improvement. Farmer seeks
greener pastures"I'd like to learn more, and try something different," Nakayama says, when asked his reason for looking for a coaching job at the college level.
He has a fine resume, having just led the Farmers to their second-consecutive state championship Saturday.
The timing is right for additional reasons.
Nakayama's youngest son, Apana, is graduating and is headed for pro or college baseball.
Another son, assistant coach Patrick, is moving to Oahu to take a teaching job.

Richardson won't play for two high schools
You can forget about that rumor regarding Kalaheo's Brandy Richardson, the one about her playing high school basketball on the mainland and in Hawaii next school year.Richardson, a junior who may move to Anaheim, Calif., this summer for family reasons, said playing in the winter in California and returning to Kalaheo for her senior year and playing here in the spring is not in her plans.
"I'm definitely not going to do that," said the Star-Bulletin's Ms. Basketball Hawaii 1999. "I haven't made a decision on going with my mom or staying here, but I'm not going to play two seasons."
Richardson, a 5-foot-11 forward, led the Mustangs to the championship game of the state tournament.
Kaipo Richardson, Brandy's brother, graduates from Kalaheo next week, and will play football at Missouri Valley College in the fall. The Division II school is located in Marshall, Mis.
Another brother, JJ Richardson, played outside linebacker for the St. Louis School varsity football team as a sophomore last fall.
JJ said he will attend Katella High in Anaheim and play football.
