Jeffrey Coleman, a right-handed pitcher from Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif., has signed a letter of intent to play for the University of Hawaii next year.

"He's a tough guy. He throws in the high 80s and has a good slider," said Rainbow head baseball coach Les Murakami.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Coleman earned first-team all South Coast College Conference honors this past season.

At San Dimas High School, Coleman was an all-California Interscholastic Federation, all-valley and all-league selection.

He also played football (tailback and cornerback) and wrestled in high school.

Coleman is the fourth recruit and first pitcher to sign for the 2001 season.

"We want to sign two or three more pitchers and we want one of them to be a left-hander," Murakami said.
