Well, Well, Well

At the Board of Water Supply's pipe-tapping contest at the Ilikai
Hotel yesterday, winners Willie Ialea, left, and Glenn Ah Yat race
against time to drill into a fully-pressurized large water pipe, trying
not to cause any leakage. Ialea holds his hat because if it fell, he
would incur a time penalty. Also on the winning team were
Mark Luberts and Gerald Souza.

Maui Mayor James Kimo Apana, left, and Olympic Gold Medalist
Matt Biondi put the finishing scoop on a huge ice-cream pyramid
yesterday at the Hyatt Regency Maui. Employees of Baskin-
Robbins built the creamy edifice, hoping to get into the
Guinness Book of Records. The pyramid was 4 feet wide
and 4 feet high and weighed about 800 pounds
