Star-BulletinHoku Ho is back home in Honolulu for a couple weeks to film her second MTV music video this year and take a much-needed rest.
Ho, 18, arrived here last night from Los Angeles and is spending today prepping for two days of videotaping on Oahu's North Shore.
She'll be surfing in the Pipeline area at Eukai Beach Park tomorrow. On Friday, Ho will be taped at various North Shore locations, including at waterfalls and in pineapple fields.
The song featured in the 3-1/2-minute video is "How Do I Feel (The Burrito Song)," the third song on her just-released album "Another Dumb Blonde."
Although some extras will be used in the filming, the video will not have any dance routines. The video will premiere on the Disney Channel late this month or the first week of June.
"How Do I Feel (The Burrito Song)" was written by songwriter-producer Antonina Armato who also wrote Hoku's first hit, "Another Dumb Blonde."
"Another Dumb Blonde," the title song for the film "Snow Day," made it into Billboard's top 10 with frequent airplay on MTV and radio.
Hoku recently performed at the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo, along with Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Ricky Martin, Backstreet Boys and Savage Garden. She replaced Christine Aguilera who was ill. The show airs May 29 on ABC.
Hoku said it was her decision to film the video in Hawaii because she wants to keep a connection with her birthplace.
"I want Hawaii to go on this ride with me," said Hoku, who now lives in a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan Beach, Calif. "I miss it very much."
While in Hawaii, Hoku will stay with dad Don Ho before returning to the mainland to begin a rigorous summer tour schedule.
Don Ho, who turns 70 this summer, will not be in the video.
