Scott Karl and Mark Johnson, former Hawaii Rainbow pitchers, each had a 'first' Tuesday. Karl earned his first victory for the Colorado Rockies and Johnson made his first major league start for the Detroit Tigers.

Jerome Williams came off the disabled list Monday. In his first relief appearance, he pitched three hitless innings, walked one and struck out three.
