from Japan to America

Earl Okawa, executive director of The Japan-America
Society of Hawaii, presents Hawaii’s first friendship
doll yesterday to Cindy Sunahara, principal of Puuhale
School in Kalihi. The Japanese Friendship Program has
given dolls to 313 schools and institutions in all 50
states plus Washington, D.C. Puuhale was chosen
in recognition of its Moshi Moshi Japanese
language and culture program.



Having a field day

Field Days, to be held every Friday in May at Ala
Moana Beach Park. More than 4,000 JPOs from
128 schools are expected to attend the Field Days.
