Musashimaru status
unsure for next tourney

TOKYO, May 3 (Kyodo) -- Yokozuna Musashimaru injured his right knee in practice Wednesday and appears questionable for the start of the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament at Ryogoku Kokugikan on Sunday.

The burly Samoa-born grand champion appeared to injure his knee in a practice match at the Musashigawa stable with sekiwake Tochiazuma and said later that it hurt to move his knee.

Sources close to the Musashigawa stable said that yokozuna planned to take a day off from practice on Thursday and see how his knee feels after that.

Musashimaru has pulled out of a sumo tournament only once in his career, withdrawing from the New Year tourney in January on the fourth day with a sprained left wrist.
