Phoenix Dance Chamber
The Phoenix Dance Chamber is part of the Hawaii Foundation for Chinese Culture and the Arts. Founded in 1989, the company celebrates the diversity of Chinese dance by showcasing folk and classical works.
The company received the 1996 Best Modern Chinese Dance Choreography award and 1997 Best Chinese Folk Dance Award in North American dance competitions. In 1997, the troupe also received the Hawaii State Dance Council's Cultural Preservation Award.
Tickets, $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students over 5 years old, are available by calling Edwina Lee at 734-6160.
Proceeds from the fund-raising concerts will be used to bring a dance teacher from China and to send members of the Phoenix Dance Chamber to China in a cultural exchange.
