Lyrics here
to combat team’s
‘Go for Broke’

Question: How can I get the lyrics to the 442nd Regimental Combat Team's "Go For Broke" song?

Answer: We called the 442nd Veterans Club and got the lyrics for you. It was written a "long time ago" by Martin Kida, a member of the 442nd who was killed in action, according to a spokesperson. Here are the words to "Go For Broke," sung to the tune of the U.S. Coast Guard anthem:

"All hail, all hail our combat team: the finest in the land.
Thru storm, or rain, in peace, or war for freedom we shall stand.
We come from far off Aloha Land: The Land of Paradise.
Hawai'i, Hawai'i: Pacific paradise.
Hawai'i, Hawai'i: Pacific paradise.
Four Forty-Second Infantry: We're the boys from Hawai'i nei.
We're fighting for you, and the red, white and blue.
We're going to the front, and back to Honolulu-lulu.
Fight for dear ol' Uncle Sam.
Go For Broke, we don't give a damn.
Let them come and run at the point of our gun:
For freedom must be won.

I lai-lai (I lai-ai lai)
I lai-lai (I lai-ai lai)
I lai-lai lai-ai, lai la-lai-lai lai)
I lai-lai (I lai-ai lai)
I lai-lai (I lai-ai lai)

All hail our combat team.
Democracy and freedom: That's what we're fighting for.
Peace on earth and good-will: That's what we're fighting for.
We are the A-J-A:
Formed a fighting; fighting-fighting-fighting team.
Fighting for liberty, so let us all Go for Broke.

I lai-lai (I lai-ai lai)
I lai-lai (I lai-ai lai)
I lai-lai lai-ai, lai la-lai-lai lai)
I lai-lai (I lai-ai lai)
I lai-lai (I lai-ai lai)

All hail our combat team.
All hail ... our com-bat team!!!"

Q: I would like to know why I've been charged a fee for dropping off passengers at the Aloha Airlines drop-off area on the third deck. Using that accommodation doesn't require you to use the parking facility. It's just a matter of a few minutes to drop off passengers and exit the area. It depends on the person at the checkout. At times, there is a charge and at others, no charge.

A: A similar complaint was answered three years ago, so maybe it's time to repeat the answer: There is no grace period for entering the parking garage, where the Aloha Airlines drop-off check-in station is located. This is according to AMPCO System Parking, which operates the parking concession at the airport.

There should be a sign advising drivers of this policy at the Aloha Airlines area. If you previously got through without having to pay, you were lucky, because you are supposed to be charged a minimum of $1 just for entering.

Auwe

Police are cracking down on drivers who speed, but will they crack down on irresponsible bikers? I live in Aina Haina. Every day on Kalanianaole Highway, I put up with bikers who don't follow the rules. They never ride single file in the bike lane. They are often on the white lane line or in the actual right-hand lane and blocking traffic. At times, when you're at a stop light, they come from five or six cars behind and suddenly are first in line. They then are in front of you and going only 5 mph, slowing traffic. Sometimes, they don't even obey the red light, going on the sidewalk and through the intersection. -- No name
