play Brazil hereThe women will lodge at a Waikiki hotel and train here between Aug. 29 and Sept. 3 before moving on to Australia for more exhibition games. On Sept. 3 at the SSC, the U.S. women will face a U.S.A. Basketball Select Team composed of top collegians. The select team will compete earlier in the summer at the R. William Jones Cup in Taipei, Taiwan. The second Hawaii exhibition will be aired on ESPN2.
Meanwhile, a U.S. Olympic Committee spokesman said this morning that the U.S. men's team, which is also scheduled for exhibitions here on Sept. 2 and Sept. 3 at the SSC, is trying to line up an Olympic opponent from Canada or South America for the first date and a college all-star team for the second date.
The men will arrive on Maui on Aug. 24 and train at the Lahaina Civic Center there before the exhibitions. Practices will be closed to the public.

In the opener, Degen's second career grand slam erased an early Oregon 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth.
Degen added a three-run homer in the seventh for the third multi-homer game of her career.
Hawaii (17-20) continues its Western Athletic Conference schedule at Portland State with doubleheaders tomorrow and Saturday.
Vulcans split as well
Tiffany Laranio scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning as the Hawaii-Hilo women's softball team defeated Vanguard College, 3-2, in the first game of yesterday's doubleheader at Costa Mesa, Calif.Vanguard (23-28) came back to earn the split with a 3-2 victory in the second game against the Vulcans (22-18).
Garcia wins surf heat
Current ratings leader Sunny Garcia of Hawaii continued his domination of pro surfing events today, winning his round one heat in the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach, Australia.After two days of waiting, the meet finally got off this morning with clean, four-foot waves.
Hawaii's Shane Dorian, the defending Rip Curl Pro champion was a surprise loser today, beaten by 1997 Bells' champion Matt Hoy of Australia.
Kaanoi Top 25 prospect
Jason Kaanoi, a senior right-handed pitcher for Kamehameha, is No. 24 on Baseball America's Top 25 High School Prospects list.He is the only Hawaii player on the magazine's list.
