Bulldogs sweep Wahine

No. 5 Fresno State swept the University of Hawaii softball team, 1-0 and 3-0, last night at the Rainbow Wahine Stadium.

The Bulldogs' two All-American pitchers made the difference in the Western Athletic Conference doubleheader.

In the opener, Amanda Scott improved to 24-3 with a two-hit shutout. She also scored the game's only run.

Desiree Duran pitched a seven-hitter for the Wahine (16-17, 3-3 WAC), giving up just one unearned run.

In the second game, Kristen Hunter hit a pair of home runs and pitched a three-hitter for the Bulldogs (40-9, 6-0). The contest saw UH coach Bob Coolen ejected for arguing a call.

The two teams were scheduled for a 4 p.m. doubleheader today.

Komine fans 16

Sophomore Shane Komine established himself as one of the all-time greats in University of Nebraska baseball history last night by striking out 16 Missouri batters on his way to a complete game 7-2 win.

Komine, a Kalani High product, was coming off a 17-strikeout performance against Kansas last week.

Komine struck out the last five batters in the game, and he now has 103 on the season.
