Woman pilot
takes control

Usually a handsome male pilot and a pretty woman flight attendant are featured in airline in-flight video programs, but Hawaiian Airlines made a switch and focuses on a beauty queen woman pilot, Zoe Ann Roach, and male flight attendant Jim Aina in its latest video. Roach is a former Miss Hawaii from Lanai. The music of Darlene Ahuna and kumu hula Sonny Ching have large roles in the well-done program. Scott Sorensen put it together ... Robert Cazimero has designed aMug shot high tea table-setting on a white baby grand piano for Neiman Marcus. It goes on view April 21 on the third floor. Artist Yvonne Ching and Syl Kop of Hula Supply have designed luncheon settings ... Former Miss Hawaii USA Leslie Lum, a broadcaster with ESPN in Singapore, is flying home to model in the Associated Chinese University Women's annual luncheon fashion show April 22 at the Sheraton Waikiki. Tara Chanel Thompson is producing the show with clothing from St. John ...

Prince, McAneeley get gift

The Westin Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki marks its 10th anniversary April 20 and G.M. Ted McAneeley has already received a nice birthday present. Guests who stayed at Westin hotels in North America in the fourth quarter of 1999 rated the Hawaii Prince Waikiki No. 1 in 14 of 27 categories. For the anniversary month, the hotel is offering a kamaaina rate of $140 a night with a $40 dining credit ... The Contemporary Museum is taking bids for art in ConTempoRARITIES 2000 through April 22, the night of its ConTempo fund-raiser. Bidders must register. Tonight is the last performance of "Fame" at the Concert Hall. The young cast bursts with energy and talent. The dance numbers are excellent. Young people will enjoy the musical, too, judging from the screams of two teens who were seated next to me ... Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center continues its 20th anniversary celebrations with a free concert tomorrow on the fourth floor. The KCCN All-Star Band starts at 3 p.m., followed by Na Leo Pilimehana at 4 and Kapena at 5 ...

The Coldwell Banker team at Kahala had a party Wednesday to mark the real estate firm's high-tech marketing program and new window displays, all put together by Robyn Schaefer. The display paid off on the spot. Realtors Margaret Murchie and Anntonette Capre-Brown were looking at a backlit window box showing Margaret's photo when a woman walked up to look at the photo and said she wanted to make a property sale. Margaret is the Kahala office's top seller for '99. Another window has a nine-screen "videowall" featuring iPIX Virtual Tours of homes that also can be seen at cbpacific.com. Ann Hogan Perry of the Kapiolani office received high fives at the party for being Coldwell's best here in '99 with $32.5 million in sales ...

Alan Wong's marks its fifth anniversary Sunday April 16. The blast offers Wong's food, plus plenty of beverage and isle music from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the King Street eatery; $85.
