"Pupule" Paul Honda has seen crazy things as a local high school athlete, coach and journalist - but none wackier than Monday's HawaiiSportsNetwork.com prep baseball poll of coaches and media. Pupule Pauls pupule poll
Molokai received 20 first place votes, but Kamehameha edged the defending state champions for the top spot despite only 10 first-place nods.
"A significant number of people didn't vote Molokai higher than five (despite its state-best 6-0 record). My guess is they haven't seen them," Honda said.
The former sports editor at West Hawaii Today spends about 16 hours weekly compiling the baseball and girls' basketball polls. Kamehameha is also No. 1 in basketball once again this week.

Sister coaching act
Former University of Hawaii Fran Villarmia-Kahawai coaches against her sister, Nadine Villarmia, for the first time on the varsity level as Aiea hosts Waipahu tonight at 7. In other OIA West games, Waianae is at Pearl City, Nanakuli at Waialua, Castle at Kahuku and in the lone OIA East game, Kaiser is at Kalani.
