Hundreds honor veteran of 442nd

Hundreds of people came to Nuuanu Mortuary to say their goodbyes
at yesterday's memorial service for Eiro Yamada, a veteran of the
442nd Regimental Combat Team who died March 25
after being struck by a car. He was 77.



Noboru Honjiyo, 77, of Honolulu, a retired truck driver for Pacific Concrete and Grace Pacific Co., died Thursday in Queen's Hospital. He was born in Kapaa, Kauai. He is survived by daughter Karen Schmidt; companion/caregiver Myong Cha Benet; brothers Joseph, Richard, Warren and David, and two grandsons. Services: 6 p.m. Thursday at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Call after 5 p.m. Burial: 10 a.m. Friday at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Casual attire. No flowers.

Hiroshi Ikawa, 94, of Lahaina, Maui, a retired truck driver for Pioneer Mill, died Friday in Kahului Hale Makua. He was born in Ola, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Hatsue; sons Herbert, James and Randy; daughter Kay Okubo, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services: 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lahaina Hongwanji Mission. Casual attire. No flowers.

Regidor C. Lebag, 85, of Honolulu, died March 24 in St. Francis Hospital. He was born in the Philippines. He is survived by wife Rebecca T.; son Apolinario; daughters Dolores Josue, Librada Reamillio, Erlinda Moraga, Consuelo Bruno, Marina Federico, Lucila Bristol and Cristeta Ugale; brother Severino; stepsons Larry and Armando "Boy" Ortega; stepdaughters Leticia Saludo and Julieta Chan, 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Wake: 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mililani Downtown Mortuary. Call after 6 p.m. Mass: 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Call after 8 a.m. Interment: 11 a.m., Valley of the Temples.

Edward L. Lim, 83, of Honolulu, a developer and principal broker with E. & L. Realty, died Tuesday in Queen's Hospital. He was born in Kwangtung, China. He is survived by wife Elizabeth; sons Larry and Warren, and six grandchildren. Service: 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kahala Ward. Call after 9 a.m. Burial: 12:45 p.m., Diamond Head Memorial Park Cemetery. Aloha attire. No flowers.

Clarence Orsatelli, 76, of Eleele, Kauai, a retired auto mechanic for McBryde Sugar Plantation, died Thursday. In 1945, he joined the military. After retiring, he worked part time for Duarte's Tours and Napa Auto Parts. He was born in Eleele, Kauai. He is survived by wife Henrietta; daughter Marsha Smith; son Royden; sister Mabel Souza, and four grandchildren. Mass: 3 p.m. tomorrow at Sacred Hearts Church. Call after 2 p.m. Burial: Kauai Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Casual attire.

Daniel Ramos, 73, of Ewa Beach, a retired mason, died Tuesday. He was born in Lihue, Kauai. He is survived by wife Marilyn; sons Stephen and Jeffery; daughters Charlotte Canaday, Marsha Cambra, Collette Pauline, Sharon Ramos, Suzanne Messer and Bernadette Broderick; sister Mabel Peterson; brothers James, Stanley and Albert, 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mass: noon Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church. Call after 10 a.m. Burial: 2 p.m., Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. Casual attire.

Abraham D. Rosete, 81, of Kailua, a World War II veteran, died March 26. He was born in the Philippines. He is survived by daughters Andrea Rosete and Elizabeth Valencia; brothers Herman and Irineo Rosete, and four grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary. Call after 9 a.m. Burial: 11 a.m., Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. Casual attire.
