Sea Warriors on a roll
Wade Taguchi and Gabe Gerhardt had three hits apiece, helping Hawaii Pacific take a 7-0 lead, and the Sea Warriors held off Chico State, 7-4, yesterday at Chico, Calif., for their fifth consecutive baseball victory.
QB Club speakers
University of Hawaii assistant athletics director Marilyn Moniz-Kaho'ohanohano will speak at Monday's Honolulu Quarterback Club luncheon meeting, along with Aloha Games STREND commissioner Ed Bugarin and sportswriters Paul Arnett of the Star-Bulletin and Stephen Tsai of the Advertiser.Lunch starts at noon at the Pagoda Restaurant. Swim quartet wins title
University of Hawaii swimmers Dave Jenkins, Luis Rojas and Greg Phillips teamed up with former Stanford star Sabir Muhammed to win the men's 400-meter freestyle relay yesterday in the USA National Swimming Championships at Federal Way, Wash.The three Rainbows, who competed in the recent NCAA Championships, and Muhammed, who is training for the Olympics in Hawaii, had a time of 3 minutes, 23.58 seconds. They swam for the Baywatch Hawaii team.
Seasiders lose two
The BYU-Hawaii softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to Menlo College, 5-3 and 5-2, yesterday at Atherton, Calif.BYUH slipped to 8-28. Menlo is 10-8.
