Aiea beats Radford in girls' basketball

Josh Jones pitched a one-hitter and helped lead Leilehua's offense in a 9-0 Oahu Interscholastic Association West baseball victory over Waipahu yesterday at Fred Wright Park.

The junior left-hander yielded only a clean first-inning single to Jaryd Kiyabu. Jones struck out 12 and walked two.

"He hit his spots and changed speeds well," Mules coach Garrett Yukumoto said. "He's also one of our better hitters."

William Clifton went 4-for-4 for Leilehua (2-0).

The Marauders fell to 0-2.

in overtime

Kylee Nakamura hit a 3-pointer, Keesha Aldridge scored four points and Jasmine Dias hit two free throws in overtime as Aiea held off Radford, 43-39, in an Oahu Interscholastic Association West girls' basketball game last night at the Na Alii gym.

The Rams' Melissa Cordero led all scorers with 17 points, pacing Radford (1-3) to a near-upset of 10th-ranked Aiea (2-1).

"They're scrappy," Na Alii coach Fran Villarmia-Kahawai said. "Our free throw shooting was terrible (12-for-27)."
