Lady Colonels pull rank
on unranked Wahine

The University of Hawaii's nine other softball losses this season were easier to take. They were all against ranked teams.

But yesterday, on the first day of the Bank of Hawaii Invitational, the Wahine lost at home to Nicholls State -- a team with 30 losses.

"I'm very disappointed. We're playing very tentative, from seniors all the way down," UH coach Bob Coolen said.

The Wahine (9-10), who dropped out of the national rankings after losing four of five games last week, were hurt by four errors.

NSU (8-30) got two hits from Jill Chabart and four innings of shutout relief from Wendi Scott.
