Star-BulletinHawaii's February television ratings sweeps show few surprises, although KGMB-9 grabbed the top spot in the sign-on to sign-off period which is 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily, Sunday through Saturday.
KHON was the sign-on, sign-off winner in the February and November 1999 ratings sweeps.
CBS affiliate KGMB scored a 4 rating, 15 share, edging out KHON and KITV, 4-14; KHNL was fourth with a 3-11.
There were no changes since November in the competition for news viewers: KHON was No. 1 ; KHNL last at No. 4.
In the 6 and 10 p.m. news slots, Joe Moore and company had a 16-31 and 12-25, ratings share respectively. KITV was second, 9-18 and 10-21; KGMB third, 8-16 and 7-15; and KHNL, 4-8 and 6-12.
Dan Cooke's move from NBC affiliate KHNL to ABC's KITV didn't help his new home's news ratings. Since last November, KITV dropped one point in ratings and shares at 6 p.m. and one share point at 10 p.m.
Howard Dashefsky and Jodi Leong's move to KHNL from KITV was also mostly negligible. The 6 p.m. news ratings-shares remained the same from last November, but climbed a ratings point at 10 p.m.
KITV, with Gary Sprinkle and Pamela Young, easily won the 5 p.m. news race with a 9-23, although it still lost to the KHON/Fox quiz show "Jeopardy's" 7-19. KGMB was second at 5 p.m.; KHNL last again.
Ratings are done three times a year in February, May and November.
One ratings point equals one percent of television households; share is the percentage of television sets in use at any one time that are turned to a particular broadcast.
