in the moneyTomori earned $745, finishing nine strokes behind winner Christy Erb of San Diego. Honolulu's Julie Miyagi (70) finished at 220 for a share of 20th and $541.
Vulcans, Pioneers split
The University of Hawaii at Hilo softball team split a doubleheader with Texas Women's University yesterday at the UHH softball field.The Vulcans (17-11) dropped the first game, 2-1, but rebounded to win the second, 5-0. The 12th-ranked Pioneers fell to 17-7.
In the second game, Taysha Anderson (3-1) tossed a six-hit shutout for UHH.
Komine leads Huskers
Shane Komine, a Kalani High School product, pitched his second complete-game victory yesterday as Nebraska defeated Oklahoma, 10-1, in a Big 12 baseball game at Lincoln, Neb. Komine (3-2) tied his season high with 12 strikeouts. He scattered four hits and the Sooners' run was unearned.
Wayne wins again
Justin Wayne, a Punahou School product, tossed a complete-game four-hitter yesterday to lead No. 2 Stanford to a 4-3 baseball victory over visiting USC. Wayne improved to 6-0 this season and 21-1 overall. He struck out 11 batters, marking the fourth straight outing he has fanned 10 or more.
Donovan at QB Club
Jim Donovan, the University of Hawaii associate athletic director, headlines the speakers' list for Monday's Honolulu Quarterback Club meeting at the Pagoda Hotel.Also on the dais will be Joel Kawachi, head coach of the Moanalua High girls' state champion wrestling team, and Greg Flick, assistant commissioner of Western Action Shooting for the Aloha State Games.
Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by the program at noon.
