Horned Frogs top Vulcans

HILO - A three-run homer by Mark Hamilton and a two-run blast by Mickey Scala helped power Texas Christian to a 6-3 win over Hawaii-Hilo in a Western Athletic Conference game at Francis Wong Stadium yesterday.

The homers gave the Horned Frogs (8-17, 3-4) a 5-0 lead after two innings and TCU added another run in the fifth.

The Vulcans (11-18, 2-8) got on the scoreboard with three runs in the eighth. Paul Yap's two-run single and an RBI single by Mike Hobbs accounted for Hilo's scoring.

The series continues at 6 tonight at Wong Stadium. Tomorrow's game in Kailua-Kona has been moved up to 11:30 a.m.
