Thousands of rubber duckies will float down
the Ala Wai next weekend.

Time to get quacking for
annual benefit duck race

Ala Wai Canal will turn bright yellow March 25 when 20,000 rubber duckies are set loose for the 13th annual Great Hawaiian Rubber Duckie Race.

The little quackers will be dropped from the Kalakaua Avenue Bridge at 1:01 p.m. race day to float 400 yards to the finish line. The top 50 finishers will win prizes for their adoptive owners. Among the prizes are a four-night Las Vegas trip for two, a $750 Windward Mall shopping spree, an inter-island roundtrip for four, free Blockbuster movie rentals for a year, and dinner certificates.

There will also be a yet-to-be-determined lame duck prize for the last-place finisher.

The cost to adopt a duck is a $5 donation to the United Cerebral Palsy Association to support its programs. A Quack Pack offers two adoptions plus a T-shirt that reads "Life is Just Ducky" for $15. To adopt, or for more information, call UCPA at 532-6744.
