Van Wright saved his best golf for last, firing a 5-under-par 67 in yesterday's final round of the State Amateur Championship to win by two strokes.

After shooting 71 in each of the first three rounds, Wright tore through the Pearl Country Club course to finish at 8-under 280.

His 67 was the best round of the tournament.

William Coelho closed with a 69 to finish second at 282.

Defending champ Regan Lee also had a 69 but wound up another four shots back at 286.

Takayoshi Iseki (72 - 289) and Clayton Gomi (74 - 291) completed the top five.
