Wrestling coach,
editors will speak

Carl Schroers, coach of the the Iolani boys' state champion wrestling team, and the sports editors of Honolulu's two daily newspapers are among the speakers at Monday's Honolulu Quarterback Club weekly meeting.

On the dais will be Schroers, Cindy Luis of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and The Honolulu Advertiser's Curtis Murayama. Also, B.C. Cowling, commissioner of the Box Car Racing for the Aloha State Games, will give a box car demonstration.

The luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Pagoda Restaurant. The meeting follows at noon.

UH coed sailors ranked

The University of Hawaii coed sailing team is ranked in Sailing World magazine's college poll for the first time since October.

The March 5 issue of the magazine has the UH squad ranked 18th in the nation.

St. Mary's is ranked No. 1.

UH's most recent competition resulted in a fifth-place finish at the Jeremy McIntyre Team race. They will race again March 18-19 at the Truxton Umstead Intersectional.

The Wahine sailing team remains unranked, but did receive votes in the most recent poll.

10K race at Pearl Harbor

The Pearl Harbor 10K race will take place tomorrow starting at 7 a.m.

The race is open to all runners, joggers and walkers. The entry fee is $5. Participants must register between 6 and 6:50 a.m. tomorrow at Lehua Elementary School.

Hilo signs outside hitter

The University of Hawaii at Hilo volleyball program has received a national letter of intent from 5-foot-10 Sara Pilgreen.

Pilgreen, who will graduate from Thurston High (Springfield, Ore.) this spring, earned all-state honors three times, twice as a first-team selection.

She also played basketball for three years and was selected as her team's MVP her junior year.

Sprint seeking runners

A race to determine the fastest human in the state will be held April 29 during the Punahou Invitational Relays.

Hawaii's Fastest Human is a 100-meter sprint competition. There is a $10 entry fee. Participants must enter by April 25.
