Mets for $220,000JUPITER, Fla. -- The New York Mets agreed yesterday to one-year contracts with the final five unsigned players on their 40-man roster, including Hawaii's Benny Agbayani.
Former Hawaii Pacific University star Agbayani, an outfielder who batted .286 with 14 homers and 42 RBIs in his rookie year last season, will make $220,000.
Right-hander Paul Wilson gets $236,000, while right-hander Lariel Gonzalez agreed to $202,000. Infielder Jorge Toca and right-hander Dicky Gonzalez will be paid the minimum $200,000.
Because they were split contracts, all players would get less if they are in the minor leagues.
