Whale watchers
chalk one up

Blankenship spot a humpback whale today off the Lanai
Lookout at the Halona Blowhole. The three volunteered
to keep watch for humpbacks at the blowhole, one of
the 34 Ocean Count sites on Oahu. The goal is to
estimate the number of whales and other marine
animals that can be seen along the coastline
during a designated three-hour period today.

On the path
to peace

Four-year-old Sarah Olderr and other Montessori students
head from the state Capitol to the Peace Bell to honor their
school founder. Their march yesterday was part of a
weeklong, nationwide celebration of the legacy of
Maria Montessori, who saw a path to world peace
through educating the very young.
